# https://api.zoom.us/v2/users/{userId}/token returns empty json body without error details

Hello, it seems the api [https://api.zoom.us/v2/users/{userId}/token](https://api.zoom.us/v2/users/%7BuserId%7D/token) does not return type=token request? I used to be able to get a valid token but it stopped working and returns empty json object, like since half an hour ago. I am able to get zak token, though. Any ideas?

Hi this happens again. I can get ZAK and ZPK tokens but not zoom token, which is required to start a meeting.

Do you guys have rate limit on this token? If any error happens, why return 200 with an empty JSON body? How can I trust this API for production usage?

Hey @jiulongw,

To confirm, are you trying to get a [Zoom Oauth access\_token](https://marketplace.zoom.us/docs/guides/authorization/oauth/oauth-with-zoom#request-access-token)? Or a [user token](https://devforum.zoom.us/t/unable-to-get-users-token-since-half-an-hour-ago/5001/2)?

Also is the issue happening on our “Send a Test Request” feature on our docs, or in your code?

@tommy Thanks for your reply.

This happens when I use a valid access\_token to call [https://api.zoom.us/v2/users/{userId}/token](https://api.zoom.us/v2/users/%7BuserId%7D/token) in order to get a user’s zoom token.

It happens both on my code, and the “Send a Test Request” feature on Zoom docs.

**For anyone who has similar issue getting zoom token**  
According to this document ([https://marketplace.zoom.us/docs/sdk/native-sdks/preface/zak](https://marketplace.zoom.us/docs/sdk/native-sdks/preface/zak)), under FAQ item 2:

> **2. We currently use “token” in our Start Meeting SDK. We will need to update to use “ZAK.” Can we swap them out?**  
> Unfortunately, The value: User\_id, Zoom\_token & Zoom\_Access\_Token are all required values. They are all required in the authentication process.

This is incorrect. I tried a lot of things when I’m not able to get zoom\_token using REST API, and can confirm that using ZAK alone is enough to start a meeting in Android SDK. Just put ZAK into zoomToken field…

```auto
        params.userType = MeetingService.USER_TYPE_API_USER
        params.userId = userId
        params.zoomToken = zakToken
        params.zoomAccessToken = zakToken
        params.meetingNo = meetingNumber
        params.displayName = displayName

```

So, no need to get that unstable zoom\_token 🙂.

Please update your FAQ if that is the desired usage of ZAK token.

From my experience, this will resolve itself after a while (24-48 hours maybe). Maybe there is some kind of [undocumented] rate limit.

For me, I was able to resolve this by using zak token instead of token. zak token will never be empty (at least in my app…)

Hey @ezeiatech.dev,

Can you try passing in the userId instead of the email?

You can get the userID by calling [GET /users](https://marketplace.zoom.us/docs/api-reference/zoom-api/users/users) or by [JWT decoding your access\_token](https://jwt.io).

Hey @tommy I am facing problem to create a webinar form android zoom sdk. There are 2 type of example in zoom android sdk first for joining meeting(example2) and second one(simple) is to create a meeting using zoom login or api login. than what is the process to create a webinar via zoom android sdk.

Hey @ezeiatech.dev,

The docs for [GET /users/{userId}/token](https://marketplace.zoom.us/docs/api-reference/zoom-api/users/usertoken) state that:

“If a user signed into Zoom using Google or Facebook, a null value will be returned for the token. To get the token with this API, ask the user to sign into Zoom using their email and password instead.”

Do you know if your users are logging in with their Zoom Email and Password when installing your app?
