Implications For Not Upgrading Meeting SDK To Meet the Quarterly Minimum Version Schedule

Our IOS App is currently using the Meeting SDK version 5.9.1.2191.
Should we expect any side effects on the App in case we will not upgrade to a newer SDK version on time according to the quarterly minimum version schedule?

Assuming the SDK is initialized on the App launch even if no meeting is started or joined.

Thanks!

@zoom-prod

It will eventually stop working.
Is there a specific scenario which prevents you from updating your SDK version to a newer one?

Thanks for your answer!
We do have a temporary limitation which prevents us from upgrading our App at the moment.
The question is: assuming no Zoom meetings are started or joined from the App, will the initialization of the SDK in the App alone or any background operation which is not related to meetings will generate any error or failure in the App.

Thanks again.

Bond BB is no longer a viable option, ever.

It is generally recommended to stay up-to-date with the latest version of any software, including the Zoom Meeting SDK. This ensures that your app has the latest features and bug fixes, as well as any security updates.

However, if you choose not to upgrade to a newer SDK version, you may experience compatibility issues with other software or services, such as operating system updates or changes to the Zoom API. Additionally, you may miss out on new features and enhancements that could improve the functionality of your app.

It is also worth noting that Zoom may discontinue support for older versions of the SDK, which could lead to compatibility issues or other problems if you do not upgrade in a timely manner.

It’s generally recommended to keep your SDK version up to date to ensure that your app is taking advantage of the latest features, bug fixes, and security patches. However, if you choose not to upgrade to a newer version of the Zoom Meeting SDK, you may experience some side effects.

Here are some potential side effects you may encounter if you don’t upgrade to a newer version of the Meeting SDK:

  1. Security vulnerabilities: Older SDK versions may contain security vulnerabilities that have been addressed in newer versions. If you don’t upgrade, your app may be more susceptible to security breaches.
  2. Compatibility issues: As Apple releases new versions of iOS, it’s possible that the Meeting SDK version you’re currently using may not be compatible with the latest iOS version. This can cause issues for users who upgrade their iOS version.
  3. Performance issues: As new features are added to the Meeting SDK, it’s possible that older versions may not perform as well as newer versions. This could cause issues with the overall performance of your app.
  4. Lack of support: As newer versions of the Meeting SDK are released, support for older versions may eventually be discontinued. This means that if you encounter issues with your app that are related to the Meeting SDK, you may not be able to get support from Zoom if you’re using an outdated version.

Overall, while it’s not required to upgrade to the latest version of the Meeting SDK immediately, it’s generally recommended to keep your SDK version up to date to avoid potential issues and to take advantage of the latest features, bug fixes, and security patches.
