Question on Linux SDK usage policy

Does this now mean you are not allowed to use the Linux SDK to make chat bots?

hi @Justin13 ,

I am not aware of any Linux Specific rules.
To what are you referring?

At the top of this page: Zoom Meeting SDK for Linux

“The Meeting SDK is reserved for human use cases and does not support bots or AI notetakers. To build an AI notetaker application or access realtime media, use Zoom RTMS (Real-time media streams).”

Hi @Justin13 ,

OK. I can give you my knowledge of this.

There have been a number of developers using the Meetingsdk to run an auto bot that joins meetings and performs automated tasks, such as note-taking. But the problem started when they were sent into meetings while the owners did not turn up.

This caused all sorts of issues with bots turning up at random times and created lots of complaints by users.

This is why Zoom is making this clear: that bots can not go around ‘unaccompanied’.
This is why the announcement is at the top.

Beginning March 2, 2026, apps joining meetings outside their account must be authorized. Meet this requirement by using either OBF or ZAK tokens , or RTMS Learn more here

If you have a use case that you are concerned with, share it, and we can get Zoomies to comment, or you can attend the bi-weekly meetup.
