If its worth anything, I can delete any cloud recording directly through the UI as the user Homer.
Hey @homer,
Thanks for the additional details, this is a known issue and we are working to fix it in the future. (ZOOM-149791)
Can you send me your full request url with the meetingId?
Thanks,
Tommy
Ah, thanks for looking into it for me.
Here is the full request URL:
https://api.zoom.us/v2/meetings/meetingID/recordings
Is there any update on this issue? We got the same issue here: we can delete any recording files of any user on our account, except the account owner’s file. What is the schedule to fix this issue?
Thanks
Hey @fei.xie.
Make sure you have the “The host can delete cloud recordings” setting enabled
Thanks,
Tommy
Tommy,
Thanks. For security reason, we don’t want enable that setting. But we will switch the owner and try it again.
Just an update: We were able to delete those recordings once we switched the owner to another account.
Hey @fei.xie,
Happy to hear you got it working. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Thanks,
Tommy
Hey Tommy,
I still have not get this to ever work.
It is still giving me an error with no permission.
I am trying to delete this cloud recording using the following values.
The id of the meeting: ***********
The url request: {{baseUrl}}/meetings/94314516783/recordings?action=trash
Is there something that is incorrectly done here?
*This post has been edited to remove any meeting / webinar IDs
Hey @homer,
It should be fixed now.
I see you attached images, but they are not visible.
Thanks,
Tommy
Hey Tommy,
It is not.
In my image you can see the no permission.
Are you able to see the image now?
Or is there a way I can send you them?
Hey @homer,
Thanks I can see the images now.
This most likely means that user has uninstalled your app so you don’t have access to delete their recordings. Can you check to see if that user has your app installed?
Thanks,
Tommy
Hey Tommy,
What do you mean uninstalled the app?
The zoom app is used across my company, and this user has admin privileges?
I have been trying to get this resolved for over a month now.
Any chance I could get further assistance?
Thanks,
Shane
Hey @homer,
Thanks for the info. Have you allowed the setting for host to delete the recording?
This issue should be fixed now. Please check the setting mentioned above. If it doesn’t work please let me know and I will have our engineering team investigate further.
Thanks,
Tommy
Hey Tommy,
We do not want to allow hosts to delete their meetings.
Only Admins.
Hey @homer
Our engineering team is looking into this issue. I will get back to you with an update as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Tommy
You are welcome!

Homer thanks for staying on this. I have this same issue.
As the account owner, I can delete recordings for other users in my account form the API, but not my own. I don’t want to enable all hosts to be able to delete recordings, only admin or owner. Looking forward to this fix. Thanks!
