Does Video SDK support multitasking camera access?

Hello!

I adopted Picture-in-Picture support for my video calls inside my app. However, when a user goes into background, his video stream freezes. From iOS 16 we can user a new property to enable camera support while configuring video session. As far as I know ZoomSDK is responsible for configuring video sessions. So I updated my VideoSDK up to the latest version. But still my local video freezes.
How can I enable local video during PiP mode?

Looking forward to your reply!

Which iOS Video SDK version?
1.11.2

To Reproduce(If applicable)
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Subscribe to a local user video
  2. Go into PiP mode

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • OS: iOS 16

I’m also facing the same problem.

Hi, I am experiencing a similar problem did you find a fix?

@chunsiong.zoom can you help answer (or find someone to answer) this question? So many PiP and multitasking camera questions go completely unanswered here.

I’m also facing similar issue when entering Split View on iPad.

I’m investigating this with the product team - I will get you some assistance as soon as I hear back.

Here is a blog post for you to try out - Adding Picture-in-Picture to Zoom Video SDK iOS apps

The tutorial will need to be updated after the next release, but should resolve the freezing issues.

It appears that version 1.12.10 of the iOS Video SDK has support for the multitasking camera access: Version 1.12.10
