iOS App was rejected from Apple Appstore

Hi,

My App was rejected from Apple Store for the below reason.

Guideline 2.5.4 - Performance - Software Requirements

Your app declares support for audio in the UIBackgroundModes key in your Info.plist but did not include features that require persistent audio.

Next Steps

The audio key is intended for use by apps that provide audible content to the user while in the background, such as music player or streaming audio apps. Please revise your app to provide audible content to the user while the app is in the background or remove the “audio” setting from the UIBackgroundModes key.

Kindly help me to resolve this.

Hey @pscaccal,

Thanks for using the dev forum!

That is very interesting. Is it possible to inform them that you enabled this for a third party framework (Zoom SDK)?

Thanks!
Michael

Hi-
We are facing the same issue. App is getting rejected & apple to citing the same guideline.

We have responded with explaining the 3rd party framework (zoom) & how it intend to work within our application.

Apple still rejected it. Based reading on other forums - it appears that appealing the rejection with citing “Playing media while in the background using AV Foundation” - (Technical Q&A QA1668: Playing media while in the background using AV Foundation on iOS) – may allow the app back to app store.

This is not a very suitable solution, as each of these appeal takes sometime about 7 days.

Is zoom technical team aware of this issue & addressing with Apple?

Hey @asagar,

Do you have background modes enabled for your production cut of your application?

Thanks!
Michael

@Michael_Condon Our app is using UIBackgroundModes for the audio to continue for the conference call.

Apple approved our appeal & approve the app.
We requested Apple to Update their guideline.
@Michael_Condon : can zoom team also request apple to update their guideline?

Hey @asagar,

Yes, we will reach out to Apple and see what we can do here to make this process better in the future.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Thanks!
Michael
