Joining meetings not possible without being logged in - Zoom desktop client for Linux

Hello there,

I’m a user instead of developer; but not sure where else to report & get advice on this problem me and the majority of my colleagues face when working with Zoom Desktop app in Linux Debian GNU/ Linux 13 (trixie).
It is not possible to join any meeting from the Zoom desktop client without being logged into the service. The button is available to join as guest; there is also a request for entering the meeting ID & passcode. Once that has been correctly entered however, nothing happens. The Zoom pop-up disappears, but there is no window showing the meeting. It seems like nothing is happening (no sound being played, no video showing up anywhere).
However, if one then tries to close the Zoom application, there is a pop-up asking whether one really wants to leave the Zoom meeting, so it seems there are at least some services running in the background.

Therefore it is currently not possible to use Zoom desktop client in our Linux version without being signed into an account. Any advice on how to fix this would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance & best regards

Hi @Franzi I can assist you here. Just to confirm, you’re using the Zoom Desktop App for Linux, correct?

If so, are you able to provide logs from that app using these steps.

Feel free to DM me with the logs to avoid leaking any sensitive information.

Hi @TicorrianTicorrian,
thanks for your assistance. Yes, I’m using the Zoom Desktop app for Linux (Debian).
Would gladly send you the logs, but I’m facing two issues:

  1. In the page you linked, first step is to download a special troubleshooting version of Zoom via a link provided by support - I don’t know where to find & install that version.
  2. Upon my first search through the forum, I can’t find a DM option, only the public reply option.

Many thanks in advance for your help with this!
