Zoom Marketplace: Inquiry on Continued Requirement for English Documentation

Dear Zoom Corporation,

I am the Director of the Product Department at Inc. I am reaching out to inquire about a matter related to our current use of the Zoom API.

Around 2020, when applying for Zoom API integration, we received the following response from Zoom Japan corporation: “At this time, our Marketplace only supports app information in English. Please translate all resource content (privacy policies, Zoom documentation, support pages) and app listing information (text in images and descriptions) into English. If the app is only available in a specific region/country, the app’s functionality/UI can be in the language of that region, but this must be stated in the long description that the app is only available in that region. Even in this case, the resources and listing information must be in English.”

Currently, our service continues to utilize the Zoom API integration. Recently, we have been considering changes to our service’s privacy policy, and there has been an internal discussion about possibly discontinuing the English version of the privacy policy.

Therefore, we would appreciate it if you could confirm whether your policy requiring an English version is still in effect. Additionally, if this requirement applied only during the initial application process and is not necessary for ongoing use, we would like to be informed as well.

I appreciate your question. Suppose your metadata resources are in a format that can use a translation option. In that case, we can accept all of your resources in different languages as long as you mention that your app is only available in a specific language in your Long Description.

I have one additional question: if we continue to provide the English version of our privacy policy in the same format as initially submitted, would we need to submit any form of application or request if we were to change the URL of this policy in the future?

However, as indicated in the app description, we have already included the statement “This app is only supported in Japan.”

In this case, is it acceptable for the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use listed in the Developer Resources to be in Japanese?

Yes, in that case, this is fine. Just make sure it’s in a format we can use a translation service to review in the future if needed.
