We’ve heard your concerns, and we want to reassure our independent developers: it is absolutely possible to get a Beta URL for testing and to get your app published on the Zoom App Marketplace. You are not on this journey alone and we value your interest in working with Zoom.
Our Developer Advocates are here to guide you every step of the way, providing the support you need to bring your innovative ideas to life. We want to be clear about the two distinct, accessible paths available to you:
-
Requesting a Beta URL: This process is designed for developers who need to test their app with a group of users before submitting it for official review and publishing. It’s a crucial step for gathering feedback and ensuring your app is ready for a wider audience.
-
Publishing to the Zoom App Marketplace: This is the final step to make your app publicly available to millions of Zoom users. Our reviewers will work with you directly through your app submission to provide feedback and ensure your app meets our security and quality standards.
These are two distinct processes, each with its own set of requirements. The great news is, we’ll work with you to find the best way forward. Our Marketplace reviewers provide direct, actionable feedback through your app submission, and based on your specific use case, we’ll let you know which paths are available to you. So please share with your reviewer that you are an independent developer.
Requesting a Beta URL
To receive approval for Beta, you must provide the following at a minimum: evidence of your SSDLC, SAST/DAST scan results, and your Privacy Policy.
In addition to these, you must submit any three of the following:
An executive summary of a penetration test, security policy, incident management and response policy, vulnerability management procedures, or infrastructure/dependency management policy.
Furthermore, please ensure that your application supports TLS 1.2 or higher.
Note that participation in Beta is optional. Your app can still qualify for publication in our Marketplace without supporting evidence. However, submitting this evidence is mandatory for Beta.
If you need help choosing between Beta, Published, and Unlisted apps, you can reference this guide: https://developers.zoom.us/docs/platform/key-concepts/#private-vs-beta-vs-published-vs-unlisted-apps
If you would still like to proceed with Beta but don’t have the required supporting documentation, please work with your Security reviewer within your app submission. They will guide you towards finding some alternatives.
Marketplace App Submissions - Publishing your app
We understand that navigating international regulations can be complex, especially for independent developers. To publish your app for users in the European Union, you must comply with the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), which requires providing information to help foster a safe and trustworthy environment.
Rest assured, this process is designed to be accessible to everyone. If you are an independent developer without formal business registration documents, you have a clear alternative. You can provide a copy of a government-issued identification document, such as your passport, to meet this requirement. We are committed to helping all developers successfully launch their apps on the Zoom App Marketplace. If you have any questions, feel free to include them in your app submission as a comment to your reviewer.
We are always happy to work with all types of developers and help you find the best way to move forward. Your success is our success.
