Unable to publish App in Beta or Marketplace as a solo/hobby programmer

Hello,

I’m a solo/hobby programmer who would like to make a small Zoom App available to others (“Quiztimer4Zoom “ - Quiztimer4zoom | fuzzy.monster (German only, sorry)).

I submitted the App for review, but it got rejected because I “did not provide supporting evidence to what you attested in the Technical Design section”. Then the answer tells me that I have to provide documentation of “SSDLC, DAST/SAST, security and privacy policy etc.”.

As a solo/hobby programmer, I am not able to carry out extensive tests like SSDLC or DAST. Does it mean, that only software companies with the appropriate infrastructure and sufficient personnel can publish Zoom Apps? And what are the concrete minimum requirements for a Zoom App to be accepted?

I know, “Zoom is not WordPress” as somebody of Zoom said the other day, but shouldn’t it be possible for creative individuals to make their Apps available to others? Maybe there should be a section in the Marketplace for “Indie Apps”.

Hey @latz
Thanks for reaching out to the community and sharing your experience. I will share this with our Marketplace team so they can help you to succesfuly publish your app

Hi Latz,

Thank you for raising this! I’ve sent you a private message to assist further, but I also want to clarify here for the broader community.

Independent developers do receive guidance and options. Our Zoom Developer Advocates are here to guide you every step of the way.

There are clear paths available to:

  1. Request a Beta URL

  2. Publish on the Zoom App Marketplace

These are two distinct processes, each with its own set of requirements. Our Marketplace reviewers provide feedback directly through your app submission, and based on your use case, we’ll let you know what paths are available.

We’re always happy to work with all types of developers and help you find the best way to move forward.

Best,
Virginie
