I’m a solo/hobby programmer who would like to make a small Zoom App available to others (“Quiztimer4Zoom “ - Quiztimer4zoom | fuzzy.monster (German only, sorry)).
I submitted the App for review, but it got rejected because I “did not provide supporting evidence to what you attested in the Technical Design section”. Then the answer tells me that I have to provide documentation of “SSDLC, DAST/SAST, security and privacy policy etc.”.
As a solo/hobby programmer, I am not able to carry out extensive tests like SSDLC or DAST. Does it mean, that only software companies with the appropriate infrastructure and sufficient personnel can publish Zoom Apps? And what are the concrete minimum requirements for a Zoom App to be accepted?
I know, “Zoom is not WordPress” as somebody of Zoom said the other day, but shouldn’t it be possible for creative individuals to make their Apps available to others? Maybe there should be a section in the Marketplace for “Indie Apps”.
Hey @latz
Thanks for reaching out to the community and sharing your experience. I will share this with our Marketplace team so they can help you to succesfuly publish your app
Thank you for raising this! I’ve sent you a private message to assist further, but I also want to clarify here for the broader community.
Independent developers do receive guidance and options. Our Zoom Developer Advocates are here to guide you every step of the way.
There are clear paths available to:
Request a Beta URL
Publish on the Zoom App Marketplace
These are two distinct processes, each with its own set of requirements. Our Marketplace reviewers provide feedback directly through your app submission, and based on your use case, we’ll let you know what paths are available.
We’re always happy to work with all types of developers and help you find the best way to move forward.
I did my best to meet the requirements, but my app was rejected again.
Unfortunately, the message I receive with the rejection is always the same, and I don’t know exactly what else I need to provide with the request in order for the app to be accepted. The note that “(documentation of SSDLC, DAST/SAST, security and privacy policy, etc.)” is missing is very general.
Is there a way to get a more specific message without signing up for expensive Premier Developer Support? I’m just a hobby programmer and the plans are a bit too expensive for me.
If you don’t have the required supporting documentation, the best way to get help is by working directly with your Security reviewer during the app submission process. Let them know you’re missing the standard documents and ask what alternatives you can provide—they’ll be able to guide you from there, as these situations are typically handled on a case-by-case basis.
I took a look at your app submission and saw only one comment from your Security reviewer. They are saying that: “However, this does not mean that your app is disqualified from our Zoom Application Marketplace review process and the application can still be submitted for publication to our marketplace.“
You will need to communicate with them and explain that you are an independent developer and that you don’t have the required documents. They will work with you in finding alternatives.
I’ve written a message in the Notification box, but it seems that nobody has read it, at least nobody answered.
I now tried to skip the Beta and directly publish an unlisted app. Unfortunately, there is a new barrier called “EU and discoverability”. As mentioned, I’m an individual with no business, but the form requires me to enter that data before submitting for publication. I have absolutely no idea how to go on from here.
