How can we help users that are new to Zoom?

Hi there!

We have an issue where we have some users (seniors, in this case) that are hosting classes, but it is difficult for them to know how to mute others or start breakout rooms. We have utilized API calls for these hosts to create Zoom meetings directly from our website. If a senior is having troubles with their zoom meeting, they contact us, we join the class and we perform the tasks for them (muting others, creating breakout rooms, etc).

We originally thought that host keys would allow us to claim the meetings as host so we could perform the tasks, make the user the host again, and then leave. This does not to be the case.

Is there any feature available for us to accomplish this? We know that we could ask the senior to make us a host – but this can be a very big struggle for them.

Do you have any suggestions?

Hey @cary,

Thanks for reaching out about this, and good question.

I don’t know that there is necessarily a way via API to help streamline this process, since the host will always need to start the meeting manually. However, I might recommend sharing this use case with our Technical Support team here, as they might have some suggestions on this. They should also be able to confirm if the host key method might be something you can leverage.

Thanks,
Will
