We are using the Zoom LTI Pro app in our Blackboard instance.
Situation:
An instructor schedules a meeting through the LTI Pro integration in Blackboard and enables “Only authenticated users can join”. The instructor has not previously authenticated directly with zoom.us. When they select Start, they enter the meeting as an authenticated user and as the host.
In the same Blackboard course, a student views the meeting through the LTI Pro integration. The student has also not previously authenticated directly with zoom.us. When they select Join, they receive a message “This meeting is for authorized attendees only”.
Question: can the students also join as authenticated users through the LTI Pro just like the instructor can? This would greatly streamline the user experience for students.
We have the option selected to auto-provision Zoom accounts for both instructors and students.
Thanks for the reply. I have read all of the LTI Pro supporting documentation, but I did not see anything that specifically addresses authenticating students through the LTI.
I see what you are saying that students can join as authenticated users if they are already logged in to the Zoom App. But my point was that an instructor who has not previously authenticated with either zoom.us OR in the Zoom App itself, that instructor does start the meeting through LTI Pro as an authenticated user in the App despite not having logged into the Zoom App.
Could that same behaviour occur for students? So a student who has not previously authenticated with either zoom.us OR the Zoom App could join a meeting through LTI Pro and enter the meeting as an authenticated user just like the instructor does?
I understand. I was hoping there was a way to also authenticate the student in the Zoom app at the time that they follow the join link through the LTI Pro, but it sounds like that is not possible and the students must first authenticate separately with Zoom outside of the LTI Pro.
