Network usage when using audio by phone

Hello,

I noticed that if I join a meeting by phone audio, if my computer connection is slow the audio connection quality is also impacted (breaking audio). I was curious about why this happens (since the audio connection is just over regular phone network, not data) and if indeed it helps to join audio by phone (if the bandwith of the computer connection is low)?
Are there any other settings that I can do in order to handle low bandiwth/unstable connections situations?
