Hi Zoom Team,
We’d like to request an enhancement to the cloud recording feature.
Currently, when using cloud recording with screen sharing and speaker video, the speaker’s thumbnail often overlaps the shared content. While Zoom provides options like “Record active speaker, gallery view and shared screen separately,” this results in multiple separate video files — not one unified recording. For many use cases, this is not ideal.
In contrast, local recordings correctly capture a single file with the shared content and a non-intrusive speaker thumbnail, without any need for resolution adjustments or additional setup. We’d love to see cloud recording behave similarly.
Feature Request:
- Add an option to generate a single cloud recording that includes both the shared screen and speaker thumbnail, without overlapping the content.
- Ensure the speaker video appears in a fixed, non-intrusive location — ideally resizable or repositionable — just like in local recordings.
- Eliminate the need for manual resolution configuration (e.g., 1600x900), or provide a more automated and user-friendly solution.
Why this matters:
- The current behavior makes cloud recordings less usable for sharing webinars, classes, and presentations where both the speaker and content are important.
- Creating multiple separate files requires editing and complicates workflows.
- This discrepancy between local and cloud recording experiences creates confusion.
We hope you’ll consider adding this option to make cloud recordings more versatile and user-friendly.
Thanks for your time and great product!
Best regards,
Ram
