Zoom is CAUSING a ridiculously high percentage of CPU and Memory usage

Description
Zoom is CAUSING a ridiculously high percentage of CPU and Memory usage. To the point my laptop is unresponsive.

Which version?
Version: 5.0.1 (23508.0430)
macOS Catalina: 10.15.5 (19F101)

But this issue is macOS version independent - I’ve just reached my level of impatience with this issue.

To Reproduce(If applicable)
Run Zoom for an extended period of time: > 1hr.

Additional context
Both core services audio and video have excessive CPU and memory foot prints.

Is is not an OS issue - I can see the processes grow as soon as I launch Zoom. I’m guessing you’re requesting audio and video resource repeatedly and not releasing them properly.

The only solution is to reboot.

I have the same problem.

Today we had a zoom meeting with 50 people. The quality was so bad that people could not reed text on shared screen from host.
We had a wired line with 200 mbps down and 700 mbps up. In the settings statistics tab i could see that our send resolution was 320x180 and fps 15 fps.
cpu usage was up to 90 procent

Does this affect your video stream quality as well?

Not video, but audio is almost always degraded or lost.
