Close_caption setting on livestream status follow-up

Dear All,

This is a follow-up to this thread: Close_caption setting on livestream status Meeting API call.

Apologies—I missed Gianni’s reply earlier. I’ve reviewed the link provided (Live Streaming with RTMP - #4 by MaxM), but it doesn’t seem to address the issue directly. It actually refers back to my original post regarding closed captioning.

Could you please clarify if I’m missing something? I’d also appreciate any guidance on how to enable or access closed captions on my HLS streams.

Thank you in advance!
Thank you,
Ruben

hi @ruben.gaspar.aparici ,

We have been livestreaming many events, and I am now running my own live show.
I am not pleased with the default livestreaming options from Zoom.
The easy answer is that if your Zoom host enables closed captioning, then it will be baked into the video stream.

What I am looking at is using the RTMS to give me live captions and then to stream them as well as the video and audio stream. Is that the level you want to go to?

all the best

hi @expertswho,
Yes, this is in fact what I understand with the close_caption parameter at livestream-> Status API Call [1].
In fact if you set the close_captions to burnt-in you get open captions, it doesnt matter if the host enables them or not (I believe). On the other hand if you set it to embedded, I have the expectative captions will be also in the RTMP stream as CEA-608 or similar. This is what I want to clarify as the streaming app (in our case Wowza) needs to be configured accordingly.

Kind regards,
Ruben

Dear All,

My conclusion here it’s that close_captions option has not been yet implemented, as I haven’t been managed either using this channel or Zoom support to get a way to exploit it.

Please could someone from Zoom confirm?
Thank you very much,
Ruben
