We’re in the middle of transitioning a long-standing video feature from Twilio Video over to the Zoom Video SDK, and I wanted to get some insight (and maybe share some warnings) around the process — especially where legal terms and integration design are concerned.
One key thing we ran into: while Zoom offers more flexibility on UI customization compared to classic Zoom Meetings, there are still some licensing points that aren’t 100% clear to us. For example, are there any restrictions on embedding the SDK into a white-labeled app that mimics certain Zoom UI elements? We want to ensure full compliance, especially for clients in regulated sectors.
Also, has anyone run into legal pushback or required additional agreements when embedding the SDK into a product that includes third-party services or links (e.g. puzzle or productivity tools alongside video communication?
We’re trying to create a seamless experience that feels native but also need to be cautious around branding/IP and SDK usage rights. Any tips from folks who’ve migrated off Twilio would be hugely appreciated.
Looking forward to hearing how others handled the transition—especially if you’re dealing with cross-platform compatibility and GDPR compliance too!
