Showing "Invalid Client_id:" when i am not logged in zoom account

Thanks a lot!
but i am the owner of my app. so i guess it will not need any privilege right?

That’s correct. It will work for you, but not for anyone else until it is published or if they have the developer privilege.

Yes! but my post regarding to that issue arose when i am trying to install. :frowning:
do you have a clue?

Thanks

Are you installing using the Development Client ID, or the Production Client ID?

Thanks,
Alex

Yes @alexmayo
Development Client ID & Client Secret

Thanks

Hey @shakeel.techlogician,

Thank you for reaching out to the Zoom Developer Forum. I’m happy to help!

@alexmayo brings up a good point here - prior to being published, your app can only be installed by users, with developer privileges, on your account.

If you’re not logged in to Zoom and you attempt to install this app, you’ll be seen as a user that is outside of your account. Further, as your app is not published on the marketplace, Zoom isn’t able to find your client ID when looking it up on the marketplace. This is why you see the error invalid client_id.

You’ll want to make sure that you’re testing with a user on your account prior to publishing.

I hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Max

Hey @MaxM
Thanks for the descriptive answer
as I have mentioned to @alexmayo on the reply that no body else is trying to install that app.
I have created the app and I am trying to install by MY account.

Yes! but my post regarding to that issue arose when i am trying to install. :frowning:
do you have a clue?

Can you check
Thanks

Hello @alexmayo
my app is “Account-level app” so after publishing my app.
all the regular zoom user can be authenticated? or i have to change it to “User-level App”?

Thanks
shaks

Hey @shakeel.techlogician,

Thank you for the update. Are you able to provide steps to reproduce the issue you’re describing?

Are you also able to provide more detail on what you mean by this?

Thanks,
Max

i have solved this issue by deleting that app and recreating with the save information.
i was not working on the old by no reason.

But I have question!

my app is “Account-level app” so after publishing my app.
all the regular zoom user can be authenticated? or i have to change it to “User-level App”?

Hi @shakeel.techlogician,

Glad you were able to resolve it! For account-level apps, only an admin or owner will be able to install your app. If you wish for individual users to be able to install/authorize, you’ll need to create a user-level app.

Thanks!
Will

I am having the exact same issue currently. App will work if tested with account already logged in, but will not work if not already logged into Zoom account. Basically the same specs as well. User level app. I attempted re-creating app and trying with completely different Client_ID but the error still remains. I’m told there is a JIRA ticket opened about this but no response yet.

Hey @david13,

Have you had a chance to review my previous post regarding this behavior?

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks,
Max

I wasn’t given the JIRA ticket information. I cannot get the app approved because the Zoom approval team can’t successfully test the app because of this limitation and they don’t know why. Here is the video of the Zoom tech going through and receiving the error. This is quite a problem because they won’t approve the app because they can’t test yet and yet you’re telling me they can’t test the app because they’re not an authorized user on the account. We’re using production keys and I’ve provided multiple videos showing the entire app working from end to end but still can’t get it approved because of this

And I did the suggested items from the video but the problem is still there

Hey @david13,

Thank you for providing more information on the issue that you’re seeing, the link to the video was helpful. I didn’t realize that you were referring to an app that is in the process of being published.

You’re in good hands with Abe, he’ll make sure to sort this out ASAP. I can see that he has submitted a Jira with our engineering team for this. As soon as he has more information from our team, he’ll update you.

As he mentioned, that was unlikely to be the cause of the issue but it would present problems moving forward so it’s good that you’ve taken those steps.

Thanks,
Max

Hey @david13 , @shakeel.techlogician ,

Just following up.

This is a bug we are working to fix.

The current work around is to create a new OAuth app and it should work. (ZOOM-268107)

Thanks,
Tommy

This error has come back after updating the app descriptions. The app is already published so creating a new OAuth app is not a solution for an app that is already launched.

Hey @david13,

I’m sorry to hear that there are still issues. If you’re still in contact with Abe, you can follow up there.

Otherwise, please send an email to developersupport@zoom.us with a link to this thread and your Client ID.

I’ll follow up with you there.

Thanks,
Max
