On the past 2 weeks, some of our users are have issues when loading the background on the meeting. This feature worked for them until last week, but now the background just unloads or not even loads at all.
After analyzing the logs, we found that although the CPU is from Intel and includes integrated graphics, Chrome did not recognize it — it still shows as “Microsoft Basic Render Driver” on our end. This could be due to the following reasons:
The driver was not properly installed. You can visit the Intel Driver website to download and update to the latest version.
Hardware acceleration is not enabled in Chrome settings. You can check this by navigating to chrome://settings and enabling the option ‘Use graphics acceleration when available.’
If you are accessing through Remote Desktop, Chrome disables GPU acceleration by default, so please verify if this is the case.
After performing the above actions, you can confirm the change by visiting chrome://gpu and checking whether the “GL_RENDERER” field now shows something like “ANGLE (Intel, Intel(R) UHD Graphics…)”.
