Web Client join link does not enforce registrants name

Currently when you register a user to a meeting they get a join_url as well as uuid for the registrant.

If the user joins the meeting with the join_url and use the web client they are not authed as the registrant (they can put in whatever name they want).

Is this the expected behavior or will this be changing anytime soon?
