Problems with audio/video sync using Zoom. Details below.
Issue: Other users on the Zoom call see my video approximately one to three seconds before my associated sound is heard.
OS: Windows 10, all updates applied
Internet: Cox cable, 150 Mbps, wired connection
Measured Internet speed: 96 Mbps
Latency measured by Zoom: ~ 40 ms
Calls started using Chrome browser or Zoom app, same result.
Attempted workarounds:
- speedify.com channel bonding has no effect.
- Attempted to use phone audio per instructions at https://www.support.com/how-to/troubleshoot-zoom-audio-not-working-13264. When selecting “Join Audio” button as instructed, a “phone call” option is not shown. Same for browser and app.
The phone call option, if it worked, would only be a workaround. The proper solution is to get either the app or the browser Zoom session to work as advertised.
Zoom developer’s forum issue 12361 seems to describe a similar issue. It was closed by Zoom on May 15 without any indication of a solution.
