Best way to stream meeting

I need to help a client’s team record meetings programmatically as a user (not host), like Microsoft Teams. This is for a team that usually has folks in different time zones. It looks like Zoom only allows the host to record at this moment, so are there workarounds I could implement so he gets what he needs with Zoom?

For example,

  1. is it possible via API to allow co-host privileges for users (so they can record)?
  2. is it possible to get the actual meeting stream url? If so how does one go about accessing the meeting stream?

Hope you can steer me the right direction so I’ll know which APIs to use. Would prefer calling your APIs from a server.
Thanks for your help.

Hey @vidd.dev,

Any participant can record the meeting if the host allows:

Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Hi Tommy,
Thanks for your response. A bit of disconnect though. Is there a way
for any user to record the meeting without the host having to set
things up (which your document suggests)?

Hey @vidd.dev,

No, the host must configure the recording settings beforehand.

Thanks,
Tommy

Hi Tommy,
Thanks goodness you’ve replied. Ok, so we’re looking into a different
way via your Electron SDK. Except we’ve run into problems… Can you
help pls?

Details posted here.

It looks like you guys are inundated with support requests, at the
same time, we can’t move along with our Zoom integration without help!
Let me know how I can help make the communication process between us
faster. Thanks in advance!
