Disable temporary spotlight (active speaker) when muting

When muting someone who isn’t the active speaker, the muted person appears as the active speaker for a second or so.

This is really unnecessary, and frankly unwanted. The person gets muted for a reason; they don’t get muted to appear up front.

+1 for this. It’s a nightmare for large meeting organizers as muting a participant who shouldn’t be speaking in order to avoid distractions then creates the distraction (the temporary active speaker spotlight) we wanted to avoid in the first place. I see no logical reason for this behavior and always assumed it’s a bug.

By the way, a tip: if you time muting the participant well so that it’s when someone else is actually speaking loud enough during the entire duration of the undesired effect, the muting usually doesn’t switch the active speaker. It’s not very reliable though.
