This is a basic feature that should exist. Currently, immersive view only places existing participants into their chairs. People who join the call late are shown as floating video boxes rather than being incorporated into the immersive view. To put late arrivals into the classroom chairs, you have to turn off and on immersive view.
It should be set by default that anyone who joins a call gets automatically placed in an available chair in the immersive view.
