Is it possible to set the resolution of recording?

Hi, Now the default resolution of recording is 640*360, which is not so clear. Does recording supoort 720P or other options? Thanks.

My webcam supports recording in 1080p and happily records at 1920x1080 with Quicktime. In some short test Zoom meetings, is recording at 1080x720, which is acceptable . But in longer meetings (ie real meetings - of apx 90 minutes) the resolution is 640x360. So it is not just an issue of what camera supports. How can I change this as I really need better resolution than this. Thanks.

Same problem. Enabled HD video and get 1280x720p on a 3 minute test but on a 30 mins of video comes out at 640x360. I guess this is to keep the file size down? Would be nice to have the option to override, 640x360 is awful.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for using Zoom SDK. May I inquire the recording resolution issue you are mentioning, is this issue happening on the local recording or the cloud recording?

Thanks!

Hi Carson,

The problem I am having is as described above. Here’s a copy:
“My webcam supports recording in 1080p and happily records at 1920x1080 with Quicktime. In some short test Zoom meetings, is recording at 1080x720, which is acceptable . This is definitely happening with Local Recording. Not sure with Cloud Recording - but guessing it would go over your 1GB limit.

Really grateful if you could let me know what the issue is and if there is some way to override this switch to lower resolution for longer meetings.

Thanks, Tiffany

Hi Tiffany,

Thanks for the reply. The resolution of the recording is not directly related to the length of the meeting, it is affected by the resolution of the video and the network bandwidth. One possible way to increase the recording quality would be enabling the Group HD in your account setting: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/207347086-Group-HD.

For Client SDK, we do not have any interfaces or ways to change the resolution of recording.

Hope this helps. Thanks!

Hi Carson, hi everybody,

Thanks for trying to help us out.
I have the exact same problem as Tiffany : I have HD recording equipment and I enabled Group HD as well as the HD option in the client settings.
At first, we were recording our meetings on the cloud but then as the quality was always very low (640x360) we thought it would be better recording localy, thus not depending on the network. But maybe our assumption is wrong: when we record localy, is it the client doing the job or does the video flow goes through the Internet up to Zoom server and then comes back to be recorded?
Also if the flow really goes through the Internet for local recording (which would make no sense to me), our connection is 30 Mbps both ways, so way better than the requirements (1.5 Mbps).

It was strange at some point last week we managed to get very good quality twice (720P) for quite long meetings (1 hour +), then back to bad quality again.

Let me know if I can provide you more data in order to investigate the problem.

Thank you for your help,

Cheers,

Hi buddhauniversity,

Thanks for the information. Really appreciate it. I really would like to help with this but I do not have any visibilities regarding the issue you are mentioning. And our SDK does not have the interfaces to configure this. The best way would be contacting our Zoom support and have one of our Zoom experts to further assist you one this. Pardon the inconvenience caused by this.

Thanks!

I’m having the same issue - My Webcam (Logitech c922 Pro Stream) is more than capable of 1080p, and when I’m watching the video live, it’s definitely in HD…but the recordings are all 360p, nearly unusable for customer-facing or archival situations. It’s not bandwidth related (since I’m using local recording), and my camera is providing a quality, 1080p feed.

So, as was said earlier in this feed, Zoom does NOT record what the camera sends it…it defaults to 360p regardless. We need a fix for this…

Hi cwessel,

Thanks for using Zoom SDK. Our SDK does not have any interfaces to configure the recording resolution. If you are experiencing resolution issues with our Zoom client, please seek support at https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362003 or provide feedback at https://zoom.us/feed

Thanks!

But it does default to the lowest possible resolution, 360p…

I’m having exactly the same issue. Is it to do with the conversion process, not the recording process? Long videos are converted to a much lower resolution (360p) than short movies (1080p). All other variables are the same (HD enabled in Zoom; same camera feed).

I’ve been experimenting with this as well

I’ve yet to see a 720 video .

It would make more sence that your local video would. be 720

Hi I just upgraded to Pro because my mobile camara is better than pc, so I am using the cloud recording. When I watch the recording I have an issue where it freezes up and this is not good because my recordings are for sharing with my customers, please give a solution and also the way to get the best possible quality, I already put my camara on hd and enabled Group HD

The same here. Short recordings good quality, longer ones drop to poor resolution. Its seems like the algorithm so save disk space, without option to choose to keep original quality.
