Hi, we are looking to fully understand the behaviour of the recording webhook events for zoom meetings. Can you please confirm that these statements are true?
1: Zoom will only generate meeting recordings for the host of a meeting, regardless of whether any attendees have automatic meeting recording turned on.
2: When you transfer the host of a meeting, and the new host hits record, the meeting’s ‘host_id’ is still the original host, but the recording only starts from when the host was transferred?
3: If you attend a meeting hosted by someone in a different account, there is no programmatic way for you to access the recording of that meeting?
1: Zoom will only generate meeting recordings for the host of a meeting, regardless of whether any attendees have automatic meeting recording turned on.
Correct—Zoom will only generate a recording for a meeting if the host of the meeting had recording enabled. The participants’ individual recording settings will not affect this.
2: When you transfer the host of a meeting, and the new host hits record, the meeting’s ‘host_id’ is still the original host, but the recording only starts from when the host was transferred?
To clarify, are you referring to transferring the host before the meeting or during the meeting? If you transfer the host before the meeting, the recording should be associated with the new host.
3: If you attend a meeting hosted by someone in a different account, there is no programmatic way for you to access the recording of that meeting?
Correct. Unless you create a public OAuth App, have that account authorize your app, and then retrieve an access_token on behalf of that account—this would allow you to retrieve recordings under another account programmatically.
