Participant ID when joining by phone

The documentation for the Participant Joined webhook says the Participant ID field will be blank if the participant joined without logging into Zoom. Is this always going to be because they have joined by a cell phone or landline or are there other scenarios where this may happen?

Is there a way to identify when a participant has joined by a landline or cell phone without using the Zoom client?

Good question.

This could also happen if they joined a zoom meeting as a guest (e.g., they didn’t joined a meeting without logging into Zoom and didn’t sign into the Zoom Client).

To know if a participant joined by phone, you can try using the device property returned by the List Meeting Participants Dashboard API:

That should help determine what users dialed in for past or ongoing meetings. Let me know if this helps.
