Using USB Web Camera in Android System

Description
We are developing an Interactive Whiteboard based on Android 8.0.
We are testing whether Zoom app works well in our system.
When using Web CAM via USB, the camera video comes out well, but the microphone input doesn’t seem to work.
I downloaded the Zoom APP(Version: 5.4.7 (946)) from the download center in your website and tested it, and I used the SDK, byt the symptoms are the same.
I also checked the permission, but there is no problem.

What else do I need to check to use Mic?

Which version?
Version: 5.4.7 (946))

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • Device: Interactive Whtieboard
  • OS: Android 8.0

Hi @ilgook, thanks for using the dev forum.

Unfortunately we had to remove support for USB input devices in a previous release. This removal was only intended to be temporary, but at this time we do not have an exact timeline for when this support will be added back.

In the meantime, it may be worth trying to utilize a bluetooth input device if possible. I have heard mixed results with this workaround, but some customers have had success through the bluetooth route.

Thanks!

Hi @jon.zoom,

Thank you for your quick response.
Currently, most of cameras and microphones for video conference system are using USB.
Most of web cameras use USB as well.
So, we have to use them via USB. Do you have any plans to support USB input device for MIC?

Thanks!

Hey @ilgook,

Jon is currently out, so I will be taking over this thread until he returns.

We are not currently sure of the timeline to add this support back. We will keep you informed as we receive updates.

Thanks!
Michael
