Video SDK v2.2.5 for Web - Live Transcription start attempts cause "not enabled" error

Video SDK v2.2.5 for Web -
Problem with disabled “live transcription and translation” for my “zoom video sdk” pay-as-you -go account
Description :
When developing code using the Zoom Video SDK (for web) I am trying to enable “live transcription” per the docs. I am getting this error
{type: ‘INVALID_OPERATION’, reason: ‘Live transcription is not enabled.’, errorCode: 7300} - this occurs on latest chrome and firefox in Windows, and in Safari on MacOS and iOS.

From what I read in the documentation, a special add-on license is required to enable live transcription/translation for the Zoom Video SDK and it says to contact sales, and there is no further information on how to do acquire this add-on. People have expressed frustration in the forums in 2023, 2024, and 2025 that there is no way to do this and that sales people have no answers either (I’ve tried). I did purchase the $5 per month live captioning/translation add-on for my master Zoom Workplace account, but that does not seem to help the Zoom Video SDK issue (and there is no way to assign this license to the Video SDK account that I can see). There are no places in the SDK portal to add any other licenses or add-ons for the Video SDK account.
I have enabled live captions and live transcription/translation in my main workplace admin account, and it makes no difference.

I raised a ticket about this but was told I could only get help here since it was a “configuration” issue. I did raise this issue here weeks ago and have received ZERO responses, so the support on this has been extremely disappointing on all fronts (ie ,tech support ticket, sales, and this forum) – please provide some guidance on this issue.

Now that I was finally put in contact with a (and maybe the only) sales/accounts person in Zoom that seems to have the answer for my posted question above, thought I’d share the info on this little understood topic (whoever is supposed to be providing such answers on this forum apparently has been on vacation for the last several weeks):

  1. First off, the pay-as-you-go plan that I joined just a few weeks ago is no longer offered - a very recent change. Therefore, getting any kind of add-on for live transcription is no longer possible, if it ever was, even though the Video SDK for web docs continue to state that an add-on license is required for live transcription. Bottom line, live transcription is simply not available for those who are grandfathered in to the pay as you go plan.

  2. The only plan available now apparently is the $100/mo Build Platform plan (formerly Universal Credit plan). With this plan, live transcription is supposed to be included. There is no need in this case for an add-on license, despite what the Video SDK for Web docs say (I can’t verify this as I have not joined this Build plan as of yet).

Hope that helps if anyone else with the pay-as-you-go plan has similar questions about live transcription. Getting this simple information took a few weeks of phone calls, talking to clueless sales people (until I finally was pointed to one who had answers), and dealing with cancelled/transferred support tickets (with zero help/responses from this forum over that period). Not great.
