What is the current status of AudioWorklet API for Mobile Safari/Safari browsers for audio receive/send?

A month or so ago I had opened a thread (Customizable Web SDK (Audio Receive Browser Support for Safari 11+ / iOS 13+) status) … It was noted my @alexmayo that we needed to wait for the AudioWorklet API to get full support by Apple in the Safari/Mobile Safari browsers for the ability to send/receive audio via the Zoom instant video sdk.

The site caniuse.com indicates that this AudioWorklet API should now be supported in the latest versions of Safari (Can I use... Support tables for HTML5, CSS3, etc)

  • Safari v14.1 released April 25, 2021
  • Safari on iOS v14.5 released April 25, 2021

Before I go down the testing rabbit hole… Can Zoom officially provide current status on the current ability to use Safari (and for my case Mobile Safari for iOS) fully audio send/receive using the Customizable Web SDK ?

I ask this because the Zoom product support page compatibility matrix for the web video sdk (https://marketplace.zoom.us/docs/sdk/video/web) continues to reflect that this browser compatibility is NOT supported for :

  • Audio (receive) X
  • Audio (send) X

Is this still true?

I understand that I can start testing all of this on my side, but to save some time I am seeking official status from Zoom development team.

Thank you in advance!

Hey @jremi ,

We are currently testing the audio on Safari. Once we complete testing and fix any issues, we will release an update and mark Safari audio as supported.

@tommy thx for the response… Your reply sounds like it may actually be supported soon… Any estimate on ETA? Thx

Hey @jremi ,

We do not have an ETA to share now, but stay tuned here: https://marketplace.zoom.us/docs/changelog
