Spotlight no longer works

In previous versions of the iOS SDK a host or co-host could spotlight a participant’s video. This functionality has been removed from the latest SDK without any replacement.

Which version?

To Reproduce(If applicable)
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Call MobileRTCMeetingService.spotlightVideo on a user.
    Expected result: video is spotlighted.
Actual result: video is not spotlighted.

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • Device: iPhone
  • OS: iOS
  • Version: 14.4

Additional context
It is understood that the spotlighting system has changed in the app to allow for multiple spotlights, but now the old spotlighting has been removed without a proper replacement.

Hey @jeremy.provost,

Thanks for using the dev forum!

That is correct that the SDK has been changed to support multispotlight.
Is the spotlightVideo method returning false when you call it?

Yes, it returns false. This is using custom UI, and the new notes state it is only for Zoom UI. It used to work with custom UI.

Hey @jeremy.provost,

Ahh yes I forgot you were using custom UI, this will only work with the default UI.

Is a replacement on the way for multi spotlight with custom UI?

Hey @jeremy.provost,

I do not believe there is, unfortunately.

I would encourage the team to reconsider as this control is very useful.

Could this be the same problem I’m facing on Electron SDK? Electron SDK: SpotlightVideo not working

Hey @desko27,

Yes, I do believe this is the same issue.
